On Day One of Patriots training camp, Bill Belichick indicated his team wasn't pursuing Michael Vick.Summer’s heating up and so is football, so FanHouse is at Patriots training camp to keep you posted on everything that’s going on with Bill and Brady’s bunch.

The question was obviously coming, and Bill Belichick was ready for it. Few teams have been as strongly suggested as Michael Vick destinations has have Belichick’s Patriots, and so in his news conference after this morning’s rain-shortened first training camp practice, the coach was asked about that possibility. He indicated that it wasn’t a strong one.

“Michael’s an outstanding player who hasn’t played in a couple of years,” Belichick said. “But right now, our focus is on our players, on the New England Patriots and trying to get our team ready for the season. He’s a tremendous athlete, but where he is right now, I don’t know.”

Peria JerryPeria Jerry was a driving force in making the University of Mississippi’s run defense the fourth best in the country in 2008. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jerry is on the verge of signing with the Falcons, instantly upgrading their shaky defensive line.

The Falcons and first-round pick Peria Jerry are expected to reach a contract agreement later Thursday, according to his agent James “Bus”Cook.

Jerry has made it a point since the draft to show that he wanted to sign prior to training camp. If the deal gets done today, he’ll make it just in the nick of time as camp opens Saturday morning August 1st.

Every year, Madden comes out on Xbox. And every year I buy it. And every year, I don’t play it enough. I know this will happen again this year and I don’t care. As long as it’s under $75, I’ll buy it (although, sheesh, a free game or two wouldn’t hurt, EA!) And the introduction to this year’s game (via PSAMP) only reinforces that notion, because, as usual, it is awesome. And gets me pumped; naturally, it features cover stars Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu. So, yeah, get excited Steelers fans and Will Leitch people who cheer for the Cards.

Jamarcus RussellIt’s July, the slowest month of the year for the NFL, and it’s driving you nuts. You need a fix. A hit. Anything NFL to pull you through the dog days.

FanHouse is here to help with an in-depth look at each division that should have you plenty prepared for training camp. We’re calling it Summer Scramble, and this afternoon we look at some of the AFC West’s looming position battles.

Michael OherOutside of their matching roles as general managers of professional sports teams, you won’t find many similarities between Ozzie Newsome and Ken Holland. But the strategy each man has taken in building a winning club makes the comparison easier to see.

In the NHL world, Holland, the Red Wings GM, has turned Detroit into a borderline dynasty through fancy financial footwork, savvy personnel moves and, arguably above all, superior scouting. Those are the same attributes Newsome has brought to the Baltimore Ravens franchise.

Since Newsome took over as general manager in 2002, the Ravens have developed into one of the NFL’s premier draft powers — Wednesday’s news that Baltimore had locked down 2009 first-round pick Michael Oher for five years was simply the latest feather in the team’s cap.
